Welcome to La Renaissance

La Renaissance is a primary school in Ouagadougou, the capital Of Burkina Faso, West Africa. A country of 16 million people where 80% have an agricultural or subsidence living and due to a rural exodus 20% now live in or near the capital. The children are there to learn the three R’s, reading writing and arithmetic and include blind, visually impaired, orphaned and otherwise disabled children who would normally not have access to education.Sixteen years ago it was the vision of Mr Boniface Wedraogo and after a chance meeting with Dick Tucker, a British citizen working for a Dutch charity, who then approached Burdens Charitable Foundation for funding. Arthur Burden and Kevin Hancock visited Burkina Faso and met the project manager and other parties involved and the funding was granted. To this day La Renaissance continues to be a very exciting project that continues to grow and of course require funding.
